The 2010 annual fishing trip was another successful excursion. This was our 23rd year. This year we went closer to Thunder Bay. Our dates were July 03 to July 08. Our group this year was 19 people. We had the five Buhr brothers who came from Missouri, Arkensas, Arizona The Allan Densmore gang (five of them) from Boise, Idaho John Ward from Springfield, Illinois My son Ryan Scocchia and his father in law Doug McLaren from Paris and Simcoe, Ontario Syd Ellis from Dorion, Ontario Matt Beebe from Thunder Bay, Ontario Jim James and his sons Stephen and Dave And yours truly Elio Scocchia We were at the Pasha Lake Cabins Resort near Jellico, Ontario. The resort was our base camp and we had the opportunity to fish on different lakes every day. Some of the lakes were smaller and there were some very large lakes. We fished for Walleyes, Northern Pike, Perch and Lake Trout. Lakes we fished were Atigogama Lake, Pasha Lake, Goddard Lake, Tyrol Lake, North Wind Lake, Altitude Lake and more. We had to work for the Walleye, but they sure tasted good for supper. Yours truly, Elio caught the largest Walleye at 25 inches (about 6 pounds). The rest were anywhere from 13 to 21 inches. Some of the guys went fishing on Altitude Lake and one boat caught and released over 55 Northern Pike in about a 5 hour stretch. That’s pretty decent fishing ! The camp accommodations were excellent. We also had the exclusive use of the main lodge where we cooked our meals and socialized every evening. Our hosts Chad and Michelle Thompson were very gracious hosts and made us feel very welcome. We took the opportunity to charter a boat on Lake Nipigon for some Lake Trout fishing. Darren Goodman operates Lake Nipigon Charters and has a 45 foot boat the JESSIE JAMES. 10 of us went and we had a great time from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. We had 10 good hits and brought in FOUR LAKE TROUT. Doug McLaren caught a 21.8 pound lake trout Glen Petty caught a 14.6 pound lake trout Allan Densmore caught an 8.9 pound lake trout Jerry Buhr caught an 6.8 pound lake trout A great day of fishing mixed with some card games, some tunes and a steak and sausage barbeque on the boat. Captain Darren is a great guy who also has a passion for fishing. We recommend using chartering with him any time. To recap, over the five days we had a good Walleye fishing, exceptional Northern Pike fishing and a great Lake Trout charter. SEE YOU NEXT YEAR.
