WAWA IS A FRIENDLY TOWN
The residents are friendly, the Township administration is knowledgeable and helpful.

This is the perfect place to locate your family or business to.

Wawa is a vibrant community of 3,700 people, nestled between magnificent Lake Superior and spring-fed Wawa Lake. The town is best known for its picturesque Goose standing proudly at the intersections of the Trans-Canada and 101 Highways and is conveniently located just two and a half hours from Sault Ste. Marie (225 km) and access into the United States.

Centrally located between the major centres of Sudbury and Thunder Bay, Wawa is a prime destination for tourists interested in a taste of the great outdoors, whether it's for pan-fried pickeral, mouth-watering moose steak or fresh, sweet blueberries. Wawa serves as a regional centre for more than 9,000 people living in the Superior East Region. It offers superb retail shopping facilities, new health and recreational services, and is the economic hub of local forest and mining industries. Wawa's extremely safe and natural environment make it a truly awesome and exciting place to be!

Wawa offers a relaxed lifestyle suited to industries wishing to locate an area with skilled and dedicated employees. It is a caring community with a friendly, hard-working and energetic labour force. Situated between the majestic Lake Superior Provincial Park and tranquil Pukaskwa Park, the combination of lush forests, spring-fed water and clean air creates a healthy community for all.

WHAT IS THERE TO DO IN WAWA ?

First, for those who can’t do without it, WE HAVE A TIM HORTON’S in town !!

IN WINTER
Here in Wawa, we make the most of winter. Snowmobiling, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and ice fishing are all waiting for visitors to enjoy.
In fact, we have the largest Ice Fishing Derby in Ontario right here in Wawa. The first weekend in March is Derby weekend in Wawa and over 1000 participants come and enjoy a weekend in the great outdoors and take home.over 100,000 in prizes.

Wawa offers well marked, uncrowded scenic rolling groomed trails with excellent snow conditions from December to March.

We're just north of Michigan with good food and accommodations and a friendly small northern town atmosphere.

IN SPRING, SUMMER & FALL
With thousands of lakes dappled across a rolling wooded wilderness, Wawa is well known for its vast and diverse year-round angling opportunities. Not only are these inland lakes and rivers straddled across the Great Lakes St Lawrence and boreal forests that surround the community but close proximity to the world's largest body of freshwater is a major ingredient in Wawa's recipe for a freshwater angling paradise.

A full service marina in the protected waters of the Michipicoten River provide access to Lake Superior's Michipicoten Bay where Chinook, coho and pink salmon join Superior's abundance of native lake trout.

Further inland drive-to lodges on sprawling waterways offer comfortable accommodations and all the gear you need to catch species like walleye, pike, lake trout, bass and whitefish. Or push farther north by floatplane to experience superb angling at one of many remote fly-in lodges or outpost camps embraced by wilderness.
In addition to the native brook trout and lake trout cradled within the rolling granite of the Canadian Shield there are over 120 lakes within the Ministry of Natural Resources'(MNR) Wawa District stocked with splake, brook, lake or rainbow trout by the MNR and area game and fish clubs. Forty of these lakes are stocked by the Michipicoten Rod and Gun Club Fish Enhancement Committee. While a few are off the beaten path, most are easily accessed and within minutes of town.

Wawa is no stranger to anglers. The town has been the four-season meeting place of fishing buddies for generations. But with accessible multi-species angling within a diverse wilderness setting, more and more families are becoming familiar with the ingredients that make Wawa a freshwater angling paradise.

Summertime is beautiful in Wawa. In fact, Wawa is surrounded by beauty on all sides with some great hiking, paddling and just plain relaxing opportunties.
Lake Superior Park to the south has some of the best hiking trails in the area, many of which take hikers to Lake Superior's Shoreline. Their coastal trail is a popular backpacking route, but there are many shorter day hikes along the coastline as well.

Wawa is a great service centre and a great "base camp" from which to enjoy the wilderness that surrounds the town. We have a variety of restaurants, stores with outdoor gear and things that you may have forgotten, or supplies that you need to replenish.

IF YOU ARE A BUILDER/DEVLOPER LOOKING FOR A NEW BASE OR OPPORTUNITY THEN LOOK NO FARTHER THAN WAWA !!
