Being in the heart of winter we haven’t been able to get to the property yet to take pictures. The owner states that he has owned the property since the early 70’s and that the last time he was at the property about 10 years ago he drove there with a 4x4 truck.
We don’t know if this road is traversable this year, though in wintertime a person should be able to get in by snowmobile.
All our mapping programs plus Garmin maps, mining claim maps and the provincial series maps indicate that a road goes to the property.
During the almost 40 years that he has owned the property he had not harvested any trees and estimates that the trees on the property are about 60-70 years old.
If anything symbolizes Northern Ontario in the popular imagination, it is images of a solitary fisherman on an isolated lake, or a duck hunt in the crisp cool air of an October morning. Hunting and fishing have always been part of our way of life in the north. In this area, there are opportunities to do both.
Many species of fish can be found in the lakes surrounding the Kirkland Lake area. They range from Lake Trout, Speckled Trout, Pickerel (Walleye), Northern Pike and Smallmouth Bass. Getting to the fish isn't difficult. Just about any body of water is accessible for on water or from shore fishing. Nearby Kenogami Lake offers excellent fishing for Walleye, Northern Pike and Smallmouth Bass.
Use this property as your home base and fish various other lakes in the area. Like fishing, hunting is part of our heritage in the north. In the Kirkland Lake district, common small game includes grouse, rabbit, ducks, and geese. Larger game includes bear, deer, and moose. The property is located in Wildlife Management Unit (WMU) 28 which has a non- resident deer season
If you like to ATV then enjoy the beauty of the surrounding area including highland trails offering scenic views of surrounding area lakes and valleys, winding trails through old growth forests and open clear cuts and take in the beauty of what Northern Ontario is all about.
