HOW TO GET HERE From the U.S. the closest border crossings to the James Bay Frontier are at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Detroit, Michigan and Buffalo, New York (Niagara Falls). From Sault Ste Marie: Travel north on Highway 17 to Wawa then east on Hwy 101 past Chapleau to Timmins or other destination in JBF. From Buffalo: Enter at Niagara falls and follow the QEW to Toronto, exit onto Hwy 427 and follow North to Hwy 401 East, proceed East on 401 to Hwy 400. Travel north on Hwy 400 past Barrie until it becomes Hwy 69 and follow to Sudbury. Continue north after Sudbury on Hwy 144 following signs to Timmins in the James Bay Frontier. From Timmins head north on Highway 655 to Highway 11, turn west and go to Smooth Rock Falls. Total distance from Toronto: about 500 miles. Driving time: seven to eight hours. Sault From Detroit: Take the 401 east to Toronto proceed east on 401 to Hwy 400 north. Travel north on Hwy 400 past Barrie until it becomes Highway 69 and follow to Sudbury. Continue north after Sudbury on Hwy 144 following signs to Timmins or other destination in JBF..
