This property is located within WMU (Wildlife Management Unit) 24. A huge expanse of Crown land is to the north and south of this private property. We are talking in excess of 40,000 acres of Crown land that you can explore and hunt on. Like the surrounding thousands of acres of Crown Land, this property is flat to gently rolling. There are many places to build that hunting cabin on. The property was logged in recent years and this has created the regeneration of young hardwoods and softwood trees. THIS ATTRACTS THE BIG GAME! THEY ARE OUT THERE! Happy hunting! There are a series of ponds in the area and a small creek flows from a fairly large pond in the northeast portion of the property. This creek flows into Muskrat Lake which is about 3/4 of a mile to the west. The pond attracts small game as well as the large game and ducks and geese. Muskrat Lake is about 311 acres in size and some locals state that there are pike and perch in the lake. Someone said that there are walleye in the lake but we can’t say for sure. As previously mentioned we class this as a remote access property. There is good gravel road access from Highway 11 to Nursery Road and then onto St.Joseph Road and at the end of St. Joseph Road you park your vehicle and then take your ATV along the trail. The trail crosses over a large creek and there is a wood bridge that is suitable for ATV that will take you to the other side of the creek. The ATV trail to the property is about 4.4 kilometers (2.7 miles). This distance will take you into the property. SURFACE, MINERAL and TREE RIGHTS COME WITH THE PROPERTY. The municipality of Fauquier-Strickland includes three communities; Fauquier, Gregoire Mills and Strickland. The total population of the Township is of 590 inhabitants which include 257 dwellings following the last census of 2006. Moreover, Fauquier-Strickland is the third greater municipality in the area with a surface of 1013.54km2. All are located along Highway 11 between Departure Lake and Moonbeam. Fauquier-Strickland has well maintained OFSC (Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs) trails. You will certainly not be disappointed by your trip to our communities during the hunting season.
