The mature timber was harvested around 2005 some 12 years ago.

Back in 2005 any standing timber that had a base of under six inches was not harvested so those trees are now 12 years older.

 

The land is characterized by new stands of spruce, poplar and birch that have regenerated very nicely on moderately rolling and sloping terrain.

 

There are some very nice building locations throughout this property.

If you build in the north section of the property you will be looking south down towards the Shallow River and you would have some very nice views.

 

The contour maps show that there are no swampy sections to this property.

 

The property is an easy 23 kilometer or 14.3 mile drive from the quaint little Town of Matheson, Ontario.

This is an easy drive on a gravel topped road and you do not have to place your truck in 4 wheel drive to get to this property.

 

The road to the property is what we call a three season road.

The first 7 kilometers is plowed in winter but the rest of the way is not.

So, in winter you can access the property by snowmobile.

 

When the timber harvesting took place the contractor at the time made some nice roads through the property and these roads are now really good ATV trails that basically give you access to most of the property.

 

If you are a serious hunter you could strategically place your tree stands or blinds at the end of each of these trails as the large game will always follow the easy route.

 

The new growth coming up also attracts the large game as the new growth is sweet and tasty and it is just like candy to a moose or a deer.

 

Blueberries grow wild up here and there are lots of them and not only will you like them but if you hunt Black Bear then you know that they will also be attracted to the blueberries.

 

The Town of Matheson is closer to the property than Iroquois Falls and you have to go through Matheson to start your drive to the property.

Matheson is a proud community with a warm, friendly atmosphere.

Local residents are friendly and always willing to talk.

 

You can do all your shopping for groceries and materials, do your banking and go to restaurants in Matheson.

 

There is a lot to offer in this area.

This part of Northern Ontario is known as snowmobiler's paradise.

The local groomed trails connect you with the surrounding areas as well as great scenery.

 

If you enjoy fishing, there are many lakes to choose from and the area rivers are also very productive as well.

If you like to hunt you are located in WMU 29.

 

The major City of Timmins (population about 50,000 persons) is about a half hour away from Monteith.

Timmins also has a nice airport that you can fly to.

Major airlines servicing Timmins airport include Air Canada, Porter and Wasaya.
