The outlet flows out of the south end forming the Michipicoten River system.
The pH varies from 6.8 to 7.4 indicating a near neutral water.
The lake is moderately clear to slightly turbid and is yellow - brownish in colour.
The lake is 1083 feet above sea level.
FISHING IN DOG LAKE
The fishing is outstanding on Dog Lake!
With over 300 miles of shoreline, Dog Lake is a huge, sprawling body of water that plays host to several species of fish. Fish for walleye, northern pike, jumbo perch, smallmouth bass, lake trout, and whitefish.

Missanabie is a community in the Province of Ontario, located in the Algoma District at the northern terminus of Highway 651, inside the boundaries of the Chapleau Crown Game Preserve.
A designated place served by a local services board.
The villiage of Missanabie, located on the northeast shore of Dog Lake, was originally established as a Hudson Bay fur trading post.
As part of the Missinaibi - Michipicoten River canoe route connecting James Bay to Lake Superior, the lake was a well travelled Voyageur trail.
