Dog Lake has a surface area of 13,209 acres and a perimeter of 192 Km (120 miles).
The lake is irregular in shape with multiple basins.
The deepest point is 245 feet with a mean depth of 41.3 feet.
There are numerous islands.
The Lochalsh River flows in at the north end.
There are numerous other creeks that flow in along the lake's perimeter.
The outlet flows out of the south end forming the Michipicoten River system.
The pH varies from 6.8 to 7.4 indicating a near neutral water.
The lake is moderately clear to slightly turbid and is yellow - brownish in colour.
The lake is 1083 feet above sea level.
ABOUT THE VILLAGE OF MISSANABIE, ONTARIO
Missanabie is a community in the Province of Ontario, located in the Algoma District at the northern terminus of Highway 651, inside the boundaries of the Chapleau Crown Game Preserve.
A designated place served by a local services board.
The village of Missanabie, located on the northeast shore of Dog Lake, was originally established as a Hudson Bay fur trading post.
As part of the Missanabie - Michipicoten River canoe route connecting James Bay to Lake Superior, the lake was a well-travelled Voyageur trail.
